Become a Member

Members of the Junior League are able to improve the community through a variety of volunteer opportunities.  Volunteers may work in community organizations, on League committees, State committees, Junior League focus areas, fund-raisers (e.g. Holly Day Fair), etc.  The League offers volunteer opportunities to fit your schedule.  The Junior League of Fayetteville accepts new members each Fall and Spring.

JLF members are women dedicated to improving our community. Members come from varying backgrounds and interests and share a commitment to volunteering. JLF members are professional women, stay-at-home moms, and college students.

A potential member must be 21 year of age prior to the application deadline and complete one year training as a provisional.

A potential member must be a legal resident of Cumberland County. The only exception shall be a person who lives in an adjoining county that does not have a Junior League.

FINANCIAL OBLIGATIONS

The financial obligations for JLF Provisional Members are as follows:

  • $ 120 Annual Membership Dues
  • $ 25 One-time Provisional Course Fee
  • $ 17.50 HDF Apron Fee

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Is having a relative who was in the Junior League a requirement of membership?
No. Membership in the JLF is open to any woman who is at least 21 years of age prior to the application deadline and who lives in the area.

How many members are there in the JLF?
JLF has approximately 255 members and is one of 296 Junior Leagues throughout the world. The Association of Junior Leagues International has a combined membership of approximately 196,000.

Can a membership transfer to another city?
Yes. JLF recognizes that professional or personal obligations may require a move out of town, which is why a local membership is transferable to another Junior League in another city.

Is the Junior League a Social organization?
Our focus is on building a better community through trained volunteers. While working together in volunteer efforts, members naturally develop camaraderie and lasting friendships.

How much time will be required from me?
Your volunteer time commitment will vary depending on your placement. You should plan for the equivalent of 3 hours per month.
